Government has revealed a programme to invest over £3.2bn in improving school buildings. New research shows that good quality buildings boost pupil performance. Each LEA will receive funding to modernise school buildings with additional funding for four LEAs to pilot the "Building schools for the future". Funding for 15 LEAs will also come from PFI.
