Latest "RICS UK Economic Brief" published by the RICS Policy Unit reports on greater signs of a slowdown in domestic economic activity, reinforced by the Budget 1% tax rise on personal incomes fuelling consumer spending slowdown. Commercial property review reports a downturn in sales and lettings, however investor demand has been strong, pushing down the property risk premium. Construction market review finds that output has not reached 1980's levels. Residential property market review shows that the 1% tax rise will re-inforce the current housing slowdown and government reviews of mortgages and house-building will have a significant impact on the housing market.
