Reclaim pride in city living

Blackwood, D.

Reclaim pride in city living - 2003 - Estates Gazette (0315) 12 April 2003, 123(1) .

Argues for improved public spaces in UK cities. Suggests that the provision and care of public spaces should be guaranteed beyond individual developments and that a wide range of factors including open green spaces, the quality of streets and public transport should form a 'net' over a city to provide guidelines for developers and building designers. Concludes that King's Cross and Victoria are two areas that would benefit from a clear public realm masterplan. Refers to a recent CABE lecture "From rags to riches: the case for better spaces" which is available at www.cabe.org.uk.
