Emissions of greenhouse gases are falling steadily, according to the latest provisional statistics for the UK's climate change headline indicator. Total emissions in 2002 are estimated at between 14% and 15% below the 1990 level. Under the Kyoto Protocol, the UK has a target of 12.5% to cut in total emissions over the period 2008-12 compared to 1990. www.defra.gov.uk/news/2003/030327a.htm
