The "Scottish outdoor access code" public consultation

The "Scottish outdoor access code" public consultation - 2003 - Landowning in Scotland (274) April/May 2003, 11(1) .

The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 has established rights of access to land and inland water in Scotland for passage, recreational and educational activities and certain commercial activities. The Act goes on to explain the need for access rights and land management to be carried out responsibly. Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) published a draft "Scottish outdoor access code" for public consultation in order to outline what responsible behaviour is and to provide a point of reference. Responses are invited on the draft document, to be received by 20 June 2003. Urges landowners and managers to read and respond to the draft documentation and the particular areas SNH want commented on. Outlines the aim of the code, its principles and areas of special interest to landowners and managers. Copies of the code are available from [email protected] or Bridget Dales, SNH, Battleby, Redgorton, Perth PH1 3EW; t +44 (0)1738 444177.
