Many members of the Scottish Landowners Federation are feudal superiors and enjoy benefits from rights and restrictions over land and buildings, known as feudal real burdens. However, legislation is now abolishing the feudal system and feudal superiors will need to act soon in order to secure the benefits from feudal real burdens in other forms. Summarises the main possibilities under two headings of re-allotment and conversion - personal burden and new tenement with sporting rights.
