Considers the concept of mixed communities as envisioned by the Communities Plan at the growing crossover partnerships between private developers and Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), where in some instances RSLs are building homes for sale themselves. Considers the relative merits of RSLs developing private for sales arms and pursuing a PPP approach. Concludes that house builders should not see this trend as a threat to exclude private house builders from developments such as the Thames Gateway but as a positive partnering opportunity.
