Tesco's has plans to build over 3 000 new homes, including affordable homes in up to 20 supermarket developments. The company is looking for housing associations to act as development partners and is at present seeking tenders for its redevelopment of the South London Women's Hospital in Clapham which has planning permission for over 100 homes, 25% of which will be affordable. A report by CB Hillier Parker commissioned by London Mayor Ken Livingstone had highlighted the fact that 10 000 homes could be built on supermarket sites in London.
