Work in progress

Nelson, M.

Work in progress - 2003 - Fire Engineers' Journal 62(232) May 2003, 52-54(3) .

Looks at some of the on-site safety problems facing UK construction firms. Highlights the high number of hazardous situations which occur on such a site, the varied skills of employees and the increasing use of foreign workers, driven by the skills shortage. The introduction of new legislation over the last 10 years has improved the statistics. The introduction by firms of a health and safety plan, emergency plans, means of escape and adequate response to fire will all help lessen the number of incidents and the financial impact of such events.
