The seasonably adjusted estimate of retail sales volume for April 2003 was 138.3 (1995=100), 0.3% above the March 2003 figure of 137.9 and 2.7% higher than the April 2002 level. In the period February to April 2003 the volume of sales was 0.4% higher than in the previous three months and 3.5% higher than in the same period a year earlier.
