New initiative to clean-up Scottish water environment

The Scottish Minister for Environment and Rural Development has announced the launch of a £2.95m six-month pilot scheme, aimed at cleaning-up farm waste and protecting the water environment. The 48 farms included in the scheme will pilot various solutions such as the feasibility of using slurry to produce biogas for power generation as an answer to the problem of diffuse pollution, where livestock excrement contaminates water. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/pages/news/2003/06/SEEN431.aspx.
