Figures show rise in new-build flats
- 2003
- Planning (for the Natural and Built Environment) (1523) 13 June 2003, 3(1) House Builders Federation Press Release 4 June 2003 (1) .
Statistics from the National House Building Council for the first quarter of 2003 show that, for the first time, more flats than detached houses are being built in England as developers follow government recommendations for higher density living and urban regeneration. The House Builders Federation warned though that there needs to be a balance between the supply of houses and flats as people still aspire to own their own home. The figures also do not show an improvement in the UK's undersupply of housing. NHBC website http://www.nhbc.co.uk. http://www.hbf.co.uk/press_releases/hbf_11.html
