DDA: a legal case study

Williams, P.

DDA: a legal case study - 2003 - Access by Design (95) Summer 2003, 11-12(2) .

Looks at scenarios in which the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 affects the behaviour of a professional asked to advise on its implications. It suggests that when advising a retailer on the legal implications of installing a ramp, consideration should be made as to whether it should be built instead of, or in addition to, steps, whether landlords' consent is needed and could they refuse, whether landlords can require it to be removed at the end of the lease and whether it will affect lease rent review arrangements. Advises individual legal advice should be taken in individual cases.
