Ives, P.

Regulation of tenancy money - probity and protection, or just potty politics? - 2003 - Letting Update Journal 11(1) April 2003, 13-15(3) .

Considers the proposals for regulatory control and the introduction of measures to protect tenants deposit money surveyed in the recent government consultation paper. Reviews the need and support for reform, looks at the custodial option of lodging deposits with an independent third party with mandatory insurance protection in particular and the problem area of return of rental deposits. Examines key issues in the consultation paper including what arrangements are made for deposit protection in other countries, evidence from the pilot Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) and its dispute resolution functions. Appends the Lettings Centre's response to the consultation. View "Tenancy money: probity and protection" at www.housing.odpm.gov.uk/.
