The Planning Officer's Society has produced a new guide outlining how the planning system can create sustainable communities by delivering high quality urban design and conservation. "Moving towards excellence in urban design and conservation" is sponsored by English Heritage and CABE and contains an 'excellence matrix' which planning authorities can use to benchmark services and promote heritage.
