RICS supports the proposal in the DTI consultation "A modern regional policy for the United Kingdom" that the European Commission should establish central principles for the allocation of state aid funding with individual member states deciding on how to allocate the money nationally. RICS in its response to the consultation recommends the creation of a spatial strategy for the UK to provide each region with its own regional development plan and a major restructuring of the regional aid system.
