DEFRA has established a steering group to drive delivery of its waste minimisation, re-use and recycling objectives under the new Waste Implementation Programme. The remit of the original strategy unit was to consider the implications of article five of the Landfill Directive, which sets targets for reducing the proportion of biodegradable municipal waste sent to landfill.
