Rights of Way Act consultation launched

"Consultation paper on regulations relating to the removal or relaxation of general restrictions on access land under Part 1 of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000" has been launched by DEFRA inviting views on proposals for regulations for implementing Part 1 of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. This provides a new statutory right of public access on foot for the purposes of open-air recreation, to open country and registered common land in England and land which is dedicated for access under s16 of the Act. Views are sought by 3 October 2003 and copies of the consultation document can be downloaded from http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/landaccess/index.htm
