Demand will not lead to sector growth

Demand will not lead to sector growth - 2003 - Inside Housing 18 July 2003, 8(1) .

Demand for new housing is unlikely to prompt growth in the housing market, says a new study. Market intelligence provider Key Note suggest that the burden of planning application processes inhibit expansion by private house builders. "Housebuilding market report" forecasts house building starts will increase overall by 5.3% between 2003 and 2007 - an annual increase of 1.3% However, housing completions will increase by 1.2% over the same period - an annual rise of just 0.3%.
