The CBI's "Industrial trends" quarterly survey shows manufacturers suffered further falls in orders, output and employment. Domestic orders fell during the last three months with 38% of firms reporting a drop against 14% seeing a rise. Export orders fell at their fastest pace for 18 months, with 39% of firms recording a fall and only 16% seeing an increase. Uncertainty about demand remains the main investment constraint cited by 62% of respondents.
