Socially Responsible investment (SRI) is becoming a buzzword among private equity funds; more investment is being made into small and medium-sized enterprises. Examines the issue of reconciling commercial and developmental objectives in investment and the ethical considerations required to do this. Private equity funds in developing countries need to understand and illustrate the synergies between the development and commercial dimensions of investment and the way in which the former reinforce the latter.
