July retail sales
- 2003
- CBI News Release 30 July 2003, (3) .
Latest monthly Distributive Trades Survey published by the CBI shows that retailers had an unexpected boost in July. Sales grew at their fastest rate since April 2002. 54% of the respondents said that sales were up compared with the same month last year while 27% said they were down. It is debatable whether this growth would continue for the rest of the summer as it is heavily dependent on borrowing.
