Currently, the cost of building a new church is around £2 200 per place, according to the latest "Study of functional unit prices" in the "BCIS surveys of tender prices". The functional unit of a building is determined by its use, so for churches it is given by the number of places. The study contains costs for over 200 building types. "BCIS surveys of tender prices" is available as part of the BCIS subscription service.
