ODPM has launched a consultation on the preferred system for testing sound insulation for new dwellings and conversions. The construction industry has developed a robust standard details (RSD) system as an alternative to the government's pre-completion approach, which the industry argued would lead to delays and higher costs. The government has asked the industry to prove that its method of investment in high performance designs with checklists to verify correct construction, would achieve the needed results.
