The August brief published by the RICS Policy Unit shows the UK economy rebounding mildly during the second quarter with a benign inflation outlook likely to keep interest rates on hold to the end of the year. Reviews the commercial property, construction and residential property markets. Commercial property rents are expected to fall 1.2% this year before recovering modestly in 2004. Private housing starts have strengthened in the second quarter and house price data indicate that the market continues to demonstrate modest strength in the simmer months.
