US land values up

US land values up - 2003 - Farmers' Weekly 139(8) 22 August 2003, 86(1) .

The latest annual report from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) shows that farmland values have risen in all states except Kansas. The rise is largely attributed to low interest rates and poor returns for alternative assets and reflects the UK situation. The strong increases were also assisted by potential for non-agricultural uses and rapid urbanisation and development on the east coast and around the Great Lakes. "Agricultural land values and cash rents" is available from the USDA website, http://usda.mannlib.cornell.edu/reports/nassr/other/plr-bb/land0803.pdf.
