The September brief published by the RICS Policy Unit shows economic recovery gathering pace in August with manufacturing in July achieving the largest rise in output for eight months. Although there are question marks over the durability of the economic upturn, it is likely that interest rates will stay on hold into 2004. Reviews the commercial property, construction and residential property markets. Commercial rental declines are less pronounced as better economic activity has aided the office sector. Construction output growth slowdown has continued. The housing market has shown renewed signs of life.
