BIDs get legal go-ahead

BIDs get legal go-ahead - 2003 - ODPM News Release (2003/191) 18 September 2003 (2) .

Business improvement districts (BIDs) now have a legal framework in the Local Government Act 2003, which has received Royal Assent. The Act paves the way for BIDs schemes, where businesses will be able to work with local authorities and other stakeholders to agree projects that will benefit them and their local community. Details and advice on the running of BIDs, which is being consulted on, will shortly supplement the Act. The draft working guidance document is available at http://www.odpm.gov.uk/stellent/groups/odpm_localgov/documents/page/odpm_locgov_023522.hcsp.
