BRE has launched a new version of BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) for improving the environmental performance of retail buildings. This latest of a family of environmental assessment schemes can be applied to any retail development at the design stage, tenant fit-out or during occupancy. It has been tailored to the particular characteristics of the sector with its very wide range of building types and functions, the frequency of fitting and refitting and the large quantities of packaging waste involved in its operations.
