Chancel repair liability preserved for the next 10 years

Chancel repair liability preserved for the next 10 years - 2003 - Department for Constitutional Affairs Press Notice (360/03) 24 September 2003 (2) .

A transitional provisions order covering chancel repair liability (CRL), an ancient interest benefiting some 5 200 pre-Reformation churches in England and Wales, has been made and will take effect when the Land Registration Act 2002 comes into force on 13 October 2003. For the next 10 years, CRL will remain an interest that binds successive owners even though it is not protected by an entry in a register kept by the Land Registry. After the 10 years the liability will only bind new owners of registered land if it is protected by a register entry. The order is available at http://www.legislation.hmso.gov.uk/si/si200324.htm. http://www.gnn.gov.uk/gnn/national.nsf/Daily+News/D52D878A03F8D24E80256DAB003388EB?opendocument
