The World Monuments Fund (WMF), which was set up to preserve historic and architectural heritage worldwide, has released its 2004 "World monuments watch" list of the 100 most endangered sites. The list brings the sites to international attention, helping to raise conservation funds and to spur governments and communities to protect their cultural icons. The current list encompasses every continent including Antartica with 33 places in Europe. Battersea Power Station has been added to the list for the UK.
