The Council for the Protection of Rural England has welcomed the new House of Commons Science and Technology Committee Report on Light Pollution and Astronomy. MPs call a number of measures including making obtrusive light a statutory nuisance, effective new planning guidance on light pollution for local planners, including refusal of planning permission for new developments with bad lighting schemes, and better government guidance for local councils to encourage the installation of more efficient street and road lighting.
