Scottish Executive is seeking views on how to improve arrangements for monitoring mineral extraction from Scotland's open cast mines and quarries. A consultation paper has been launched and this explores four options for a new fees regime for mine and quarry operators. These include a fee based on the size of the site being worked or a fee based on the expected or actual output of the site.
