Explores some of the challenges facing practitioners and students of the subject of farm management. The first part of the paper analyses the drivers of change in the environment within which managers have to operate. Technological change, input and product market changes and policy changes are each identified and discussed. The second part investigates the limitations of the conventional model of risky decision making.
