Strong performance by UK construction sector in October

The latest Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply's report on construction shows the UK construction sector expanding in October at the strongest rate for 27 months and for the 57th consecutive month. The headline seasonally-adjusted "Purchasing managers index" rose to 58.9 from 56.9 in September and all three broad areas of construction activity, housing, commercial and new orders, registered an acceleration in the rate of expansion of activity in October.
