MPs on the governments Commons Transport Committee warned that the competitiveness of UK ports is being undermined by the governments failure to deliver on its promise to improve port access. The report notes that there are arguments for planning set at an integrated national level rather than individually as the planning process now is overly complex. The MPs add that despite progress proposed in the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Bill much more could still be done.
