You are not the weakest link - 2003 - Health and Safety Bulletin (323) November 2003, 11-12(2) .

Reports on recent findings by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) that sub-contracting usually has no negative effects on employee health and safety and in some cases may actually inprove it. "Contractorisation - aspects of health and safety in the supply chain" (ISBN 0717622134) also discovered that in contracting relationships there is little pressure from clients to keep suppliers up to standard. HSE is seen as an enforcement body primarily, but also has an advisory role, which is of particular help to small companies. Concludes that HSE should produce guidance on who is responsible for contractor's employees working at third parties' premises. View the report at www.hse.gov.uk.
