EU may break architects' design monopoly

EU may break architects' design monopoly - 2003 - RICS Press Release (pr117) 3 December 2003 (2) .

After a two year RICS campaign, an EU directive giving an unfair advantage to architects looks set to be updated. The amended draft directive now states that building design can be carried out by other professionals beyond architects. This is good news for quantity and building surveyors working in construction. The amendments will go to a full vote of the European Parliament on 17 December.
