Reviews the position of contractors when the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 Part IV makes the dutyholder of a building liable for the management of asbestos. Contractors may be regarded as the dutyholder in certain circumstances. They will still have to co-operate with the nominated dutyholder and assist in compliance with the regulations. Breaching them may result in criminal and/or civil liability.
