RICS in its response supports the draft PPS7 on sustainable development in rural areas as a pragmatic continuation of PPG7, which recognises the specific needs of rural areas and follows the policy drive towards a more diverse rural economy, while seeking continued protection of the natural environment. Recommendations are made on the location of developments, business development and employment, housing, countryside protection, re-use of buildings in the countryside and local countryside designations.
