Examines government proposals to amend the Use Classes Order for restaurants, public houses and takeaways. The existing A3 class food and drink would be confined to cafes and restaurant whilst an A4 class would be created for public houses and bars whereas takeaways would be consigned to a new A5 class. A table lists use class revisions including details of permitted change of use for each new class. The aim is to help local authorities create the correct balance of business on the high street through sensible development rather than one that can have a negative impact on the local quality of life.
