Looks at assessing passenger lifts which are vital for disabled access in multi-storey buildings. Advises assessment should be made in relation to BS 8300: 2001 "Design of buildings and their approaches to meet the needs of disabled people: code of practice". Recommends gathering all the technical information about lifts and analysing it. Relevant standards need to be bought and information on the site, with photographs, should be collated. Advises looking at the usability of the lift rather than applying design guidance mechanically.
