First two articles in a series looking at the abolition of the feudal system in Scotland and its effect on land ownership. Outlines the key features of the Abolition of Feudal Tenure Etc (Scotland) Act 2000 including extinction of feuduties and the extinction of the superior's right to enforce real burdens. Explains the provisions permitting reallocation of feudal burdens and the fate of development value burdens. The law relating to real burdens will be dealt with by the Title Conditions (Scotland) Act 2003. Both Acts are due to come into force on 28 November 2004.
