"Town centres first?" examines the consultation draft of the new Planning Policy Statement 6 (PPS6): "Planning for Town Centres" and finds that although the overall emphasis of policy stays unchanged, there are some new ideas and reversals of recent policy directions. The second article "Putting which town centres first?", looks at some of the problems faced by many of the retail centres within small and medium-sized towns and cities in light of draft PPS6.
