Macdonald, A.

Ladybower Dam: upgrading in a national park - 2004 - Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers 157(WM1) March 2004, 13-20(8) .

Describes the work undertaken at Ladybower Reservoir to upgrade the dam to meet anticipated flood and freeboard standards until 2050. Describes the assessment undertaken on the original dam, the design on the new works and the measures that were taken to address the concerns regarding the impact of the construction process on the environment. The works included the raising of the dam crest by three metres, the extension of the core and the strengthening of the downstream shoulder with rockfill. A site environmental management plan was prepared to address planning concerns as the dam was in the Peak District National Park. [Taken from journal abstract].
