Farmers recover ground from city slickers

Farmers recover ground from city slickers - 2004 - RICS Press Release (pr038) 6 May 2004 (3) .

The latest "RICS rural land market survey Great Britain" for the first quarter 2004 reports that, despite rising land prices, farmers are buying land, encouraged by improving commodity prices in certain sectors. Records that individual farmer buyers now account for 43% of the market, up from 38% in the fourth quarter 2003. Demand for commercial farms is also rising steadily, with 43% more surveyors reporting a rise than a fall. There is a general decline in land supply, reflecting uncertainty over CAP reform impact on the market.
