Finalising the fire safety order
Dyer, C.
Finalising the fire safety order - 2004 - Health and Safety Bulletin (330) July 2004, 9-14(6) .
Reports on the contents of the new fire safety regime and what it means for employers. Outlines the progress of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2004 and what it contains. The main proposals include that, as far as possible, reform should create one simple fire safety regime applying to all workplaces and other non-domestic premises and that the regime should be based on risk assessment. Shows how existing regulations and acts have been integrated and highlights how new duties will replace old ones. States the government has said the introduction of the new regime should not mean the alteration in the level of resources dedicated to fire safety and the number of inspections carried out is not expected to change.
