Photovoltaics are used to power heating systems from sunlight and have been used on a private housing development in Belfast, despite their reputation for being expensive. Argues that good advance planning can make this form of sustainable development affordable. Suggests new schemes could include the capacity to incorporate such technology in the future when it becomes more affordable.
