Discusses the admission by the Planning Inspectorate that even the simplest written appeal will now take more than a year to decide. This is the result of the government announcement that for all applications made from 5 September 2003, the six-month period allowed to lodge an appeal was to be reduced to three months. Suggested remedies by the Association of Consultant Architects to this situation could include inspectors making known their decisions immediately with written reasons and simplified mediation.
