The latest Emap Glenigan "Contracts league: November 2004" shows that Laing O'Rourke has closed the gap on Bovis Lend Lease at the top of the annual contractors' table to just £30m. The sector top 10s show contractors workign in four state-sponsored or regulated sectors - education, civils, health and public housing - and four dominated by private clients: commercial, industrial, retail and private housing. Commercial clients retain enthusiasm for employing contractors on a fee basis. Industrial work has only recently show signs of emerging from recession.
